Pete Williams returns to the Hall!
Our October 2017 Black Country Special was one of the stand-out events of the past season. Pete was instrumental in putting that evening together and his set on the night was a triumph.
Here's a rare chance to see Pete perform songs from both critically acclaimed albums as well as brand new material from his new one, just completed in Sheffield, with a Band that have rapidly gained a reputation for turning in memorable and blistering live shows.
Born to Black Country parents just inside a new decade, Pete Williams had a paper round, dreamed, and played clarinet; aged 14 he bought a Bass Guitar and was soon playing in Social club bands around the industrial West Midlands.
Pete is a founder member of Dexys Midnight Runners ,The Bureau and These Tender Virtues and a pivotal part of Dexys recent resurgence culminating in a 9 night residency at the Duke of Yorks theatre in Londons West End and Headlining the Acoustic stage at Glastonbury festival 2014
Pete and his incredible band were personally invited as special guests across 32 sold out shows with The Proclaimers on their 2015 U.K. Tour and were invited to perform on BBC Scotlands flagship music show 'The Quay Sessions with Edith Bowman' last March.
Pete is supported tonight by local favourite Ellisha Green and our youth musician is Josh Smith.
“What a fantastic songwriter and singer the man is. We both thought that his record 'See' was the stand out album of 2012. Pete is a storyteller in his songs, and writes as a mature man who has lived and suffered and loved. The soulfulness that Pete brings to everything that he does is inspiring. He has the passion of a young writer, and the philosophical overview of a wise man." – CHARLIE & CRAIG REID (THE PROCLAIMERS)
“For me, it's all about recognising in another brother or sister that same appreciation, understanding and knowledge, backed-up by a feral fuckin' instinct, that another side to this life exists. A side other than the one we're shown by the greedheads and the business man and the meaningless, mindless pursuit of money. We can smell each other out. Pete smells good and is a damn fine man and musician"
“I’m a fan of the great Pete Williams. He tells terrific stories set to beautiful melodies and sung with passion, charisma and heartfelt honesty. He draws me in every time”. - IMELDA MAY
